Online Transcription Jobs are very popular work at home jobs. Without too much of hustle, you can start your online earning career through transcription. This is because many transcription companies hire online transcribers. Anyone can start the job of a transcriptionist from the comfort of your home and from anywhere in the world.


What is Transcription?

Transcription is typing by listening to a piece of audio. These are often provided for general, legal or medical purposes. General transcription does not require any specialized training whereas legal and medical transcription does.

Once certified you will be paid for the files you transcribe on an audio hour basis. For each submission, your Scribie.com account will be credited with the appropriate dollar amount. Payments are made once a day. They pay $5 to $25/audio hour pay rate.


2. Gotranscript: 

They have plenty of jobs. You will always have something to transcribe on their website as they receive orders from the client every day. They hire worldwide, and the pay is up to $0.60 per audio minute. You can earn up to 1200$ a month. They have a weekly payment system.


3. Transcribeme: 

They post transcription jobs for English and Spanish language. You need to qualify an English Test in order to work for Transcribeme, The test is to transcribe a 3 to 4 minutes audio file. If you fail the test in your first attempt, you can appear for it again. You will be contacted for further steps once you qualify and start working for paid projects. Their paid work starts as low as 0.79 per audio minute.


4. Rev: 

Rev has online jobs for transcription, caption, and translation. Transcription. Rev is rated over 4,300 reviews with 4.6-star ratings by the people working as a transcriber. One can earn upto an average of $245 per month and the top-earning is $1495. They pay via Paypal.


5. Appen: 

This is my favourite. The amount of work available is more in Appen. Apart from Transcription jobs, they also have various other online jobs like Social Media Evaluator, Linguistic jobs, translator, work surveys and many more. They have acquired another crowdsource companies called Leapforce. Hence the amount of work they have the maximum.


6. Babbletype: 

You can work on your own schedule and get paid weekly. They provide feedback for all work performed so that you can steadily improve your abilities. They operate on a daily assignment cycle. You can sign up for assignments anytime up to 4 PM Eastern Time each day, and all assignments are due by 4 PM the following day. Only a native speaker will be assigned for transcription in a particular language


7. Casting Words: 

Transcribe, edit, and complete other short jobs, at your own pace. Work as much or as little as you want. The minimum pay is around $0.90 per audio minute.


8. GMR Transcription:

GMR Transcription offers roles to experienced as well as beginner transcriptionists. Their pay is between $0.70 to $1.25 per audio minute. They hire only in the US. They also have work for Translators.


9. Speak write: 

If you are from the United States and Canada fluent in English, this is the best transcription company. But in addition to that, you need to qualify a typing speed test of 60 wpm with 90%+ Accuracy.  This will enable you to make a lot of money through your skills. Top monthly earning as per their website is $3,000+


10. Terescription: 

This company hires transcribers online for production studios. They hire independent contractors to take a media file that is downloaded to their personal computer and create a transcript of that media file. They employ only in the US.


11. Daily Transcription: 

This company hires beginners as well as professional transcribers. Their payment is made weekly. They pay $0.75 -$0.85 per audio minute. Top transcriptionist makes anywhere from $250- $950 per week. Unfortunately, they hire individuals from the U.S and Canada only.


12. 3play media: 

As a transcriptionist, you would decide which projects to accept, how much you work, and when and where you perform your work. This company provides transcription opportunities for beginners as well as professionals to work online as editors and transcribers. However, you must pass a English typing test of 75 wpm.


13. Speechpad: 

Speechpad hires transcribers from all over the world. You need to have a typing speed of atleas 40 wpm with 100% accuracy. Apart for transcription jobs, they have work for captioners, translators, and reviewers. You can earn $15 per hour.


14. Casting words: 

With Casting Words, you work as an independent contractor and it hires individuals from all corners of the world. This company hires beginners and professional transcribers. For US citizen, there is a short notice that for DC, HI, IN, MA, NY, or WV states, the account creation is not allowing at this moment.  


15. Transcription Hub: 

This transcription company hires freelance transcribers and translators worldwide. The first step is to clear an evaluation test. Based on the evaluation, you will be rated as Gold, Silver or Bronze. Then you are eligible for paid works.


16. Verbal Ink:

You will need to send your CV to jobs@verbalink.com  to apply for the job of a transcriptionist. This company has a good reputation and it requires you to pass an English test to be accepted.


17. Ubiqus: 

Ubicus is an equal opportunity Employer. You need to fill out their online application form in order to work for them. They hire as a contractor for the job. You can either work as a transcriptionist or transcript proofreaders. Only for US citizen.


18. Quicktate: 

This is another service company offering job opportunities to freelancers who want to earn some money from home. You will receive your payments through PayPal every Monday of the week. This company hires freelancers from any part of the world.


19. AccuTran Global:  

AccuTran Global is a legit transcription company that will hire beginners. You work based on a schedule that they provide for you after you tell them when you’re available on a weekly basis. Pay is monthly via check or wire transfer. They are open to the US and Canada.


20. Fiverr:

Fiver is a freelance marketplace where you can post any type of work you can do. You need to write down your details as an Experienced transcriptionist.  People looking for transcribers will contact you and provide you with work. The best part is you make your own budget for your work. 


21. Upwork: 

Upwork is another excellent freelance marketplace, unlike Fiverr. But you may find little difficulty for your profile to get selected in order to work in this platform. But once your profile is shortlisted, chances of getting work are much higher here in Upwork.


21. Crowdsurf

 You need to be detail oriented, speak read and write in English. Good at proofreading and editing. Work ranges from 5 seconds to 30 seconds for each audio clip. Payment ranges from $0.03-$0.20 per media minute plus additional bonus rates. If you wish to work here you need to create a Work Market account.


22. Way With Words

They hire globally. You can earn a good pay anytime. Engage with great managers and set your own time of work.


23. Transcriptions ‘N’ Translations   

Miami-based Transcriptions ‘N’ Translations does transcription projects for big names like Discovery Channel and Animal Planet. If you can pass a skills test, you can contract with them. You need to apply online by attaching your CV.


24. 1 888 TYPE IT UP 

They charge a non-refundable application fee of $35.00  This is because they are the highest payer $36.00 to $180.00 per audio hour. This fee is similar to the fee you would pay to take the GRE or SAT, and it is similar to an application fee you would pay to apply to a college or university. If you do not wish to spend the application fee at the beginning, I would recommend you to work for other companies listed above. Once you start getting money from them, you can invest 35$ in here.
